How are ski holidays changing with climate change?

The lack of snowfall last season would not have been lost on the most avid snow sports enthusiasts and although the snow was good here in Paradiski, it wasn’t everywhere! Unusually, it didn’t snow for 6 weeks from the end of January, which meant low altitude and south-facing resorts really struggled.

Here we had an influx of enquires from customers looking for snow and the snow line held to 1250m until the end of March. April turned out to be the best for snowfall for 40 years. Both Les Arcs and La Plagne have glaciers with access to 3000m and Montchavin/Les Coches is north-facing and treelined which protects the snow.

Clearly, rising temperatures are having an impact on precipitation and snow. 10 years ago, there were over 50 glaciers open outside of the season and now there are just 2! The shift in snow is pushing holiday makers to resorts with access to higher altitudes to ensure the very best snow conditions.
